Luisa, at right, on set with BC Media Productions

Three weeks ago, Luisa marked the one-year anniversary of pursuing acting on a full-time basis. Last February, on the heels of a year spent working as the Operations Manager for Rep. Joseph P. Kennedy III’s first congressional campaign, Luisa finally embraced her lifelong dream of acting and set out to learn the New England market. This year, that crash course has her…

Acting in Film
Since January, Luisa has signed on to three shorts, two of which she’ll be starring in, and all of which she’ll add to her forthcoming debut acting reel. Production on the films is ongoing or just poised to start, and is expected to wrap by the end of March. In addition to these films, this Thursday Luisa will be shooting a lead role in a scene for actor/director John Depew and his latest feature film Lazarus Rising. The feature film Having Fun Up There, in which Luisa has a principal role, will be debuting this spring at the Buffalo Niagara Independent Film Festival, and screening locally this June.

Acting in Commercials
Last month, Luisa was cast in a TV commercial for HealthSouth Ludlow, a brand-new rehabilitation hospital in Western Massachusetts. The project was cast by the ever-fabulous Christine Wyse Casting and shot by equally sterling BC Media Productions. Earlier this month, Luisa filmed a commercial for Heirloom Kitchen, a newly opened, high-end takeout and delivery restaurant serving the Greater Boston Area. The project was filmed by Longhaul Films, whose director Melissa Dowler found Luisa on, a site brilliantly run by actor Bradley J. Van Dussen. Both commercials will be added to Luisa’s hosting and commercial reel.

Acting in TV
Luisa is currently in discussions to appear this weekend in a pilot filming in the Boston area and cast by stalwarts Boston Casting and CP Casting. Last March, Luisa worked as an extra on an NBC pilot, the Charlize Theron-produced Hatfields and McCoys, which was not picked up by the network. More information on this weekend’s shoot, if sanctioned by the production crew, will be posted here.

Acting on Stage
Having acted in three plays last year, Luisa is currently focusing on her TV and film credits in preparation for local casting in movies filming this summer. Her current stage commitments are April’s Shakespeare Sonnet-thon by Shakespeare Now! and the annual StageSource auditions, also in April. Luisa will be performing in an improv showcase next week, and a stand-up comedy showcase in May (for more information, see “Training” below).

Last month, Luisa was cast in a series of web videos for the Maine Department of Labor. The project was cast by John Campanello and shot by Nomad Pictures. Also in January, Luisa filmed a series of industrial videos with Brafton Inc. as part of her contract with the Boston-based content marketing firm. Finally, last month Luisa auditioned for a reporting and hosting position with a local TV station’s news department, a task that required her to write scripts for broadcast, conduct stand-ups on location, and host a news show in-studio (Luisa holds a BS in Broadcast Journalism from Northwestern University).

Tomorrow marks the final class of Luisa’s Improv 401 class at Improv Boston. Together with her classmates, she will perform a harold in a showcase on Monday, March 3 at 9pm. Shows often sell out, so anyone looking to attend should secure tickets here. Next month, Luisa will begin an Improv Boston stand-up class taught by comedian and comedy promoter Rob Crean. This class will also have a showcase, in which Luisa will perform a 3-minute stand-up routine. The stand-up showcase is currently scheduled for Tuesday, May 13 at 8pm. In addition to comedy, Luisa has also been training in ballet at Boston Ballet.

Next week, Luisa will model in a commercial print campaign for 99 Restaurants. She was booked on the project by her agent, Model Club Inc. Also next week, Luisa is set  to model for photographer Brett Phillips of Create Awesomeness, with whom she will update her images. She is also in discussions to model for photographer Bobby DiMarzo of Scene Magazine.

It’s said that an actor’s job isn’t to act, but rather to audition. With that, Luisa has two auditions tomorrow with Boston Casting, one for and another for EMC Corp. She is grateful to Boston Casting’s Casting Director Hilary Missan for her continued support and consideration.
